Anycast DNS provides better performance and availability. In traditional unicast DNS, a single DNS server is responsible for servicing DNS requests for a particular domain name. Anycast DNS instead means that the DNS server is replicated in several geographical locations and advertises the same IP address to all these servers. When a DNS request is made, the nearest DNS server responds to the request.


Anycast DNS is for those companies that require high availability and low latency, such as e-commerce sites. By distributing DNS servers across multiple locations, anycast DNS ensures that DNS requests are served quickly and reliably, regardless of the location of the client.

Prevents DDos attacks

Anycast DNS helps exclude or mitigate Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks by spreading traffic across multiple DNS servers. This makes it more difficult for attackers to overload and can help maintain availability during an attack.
